Oyo abduction: VeryDarkMan alleges kidnappers collected ransom but refused to free Oyo victims (video)

Social media personality and activist VeryDarkMan has alleged that the Oyo State Government paid a ransom to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area, but claimed the victims are still being held by their captors.

In a post shared on social media, VeryDarkMan said he received information alleging that the ransom was paid, but that the kidnappers allegedly collected the money without releasing the victims.

"Yesterday, I received information alleging that the Oyo State Government paid a ransom for the release of the children and teachers who were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, in Orire Local Government Area. According to the information, the kidnappers collected the money but have still refused to release the victims.

"Today marks 49 days since they were taken captive. As usual, you can see that many Nigerians have already moved on," he wrote.

The activist did not provide evidence to support the claim, and the Oyo State Government has not publicly confirmed the allegation.

The children and teachers were abducted during an attack in Orire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026, with efforts by security agencies continuing to secure their safe release.
